The Human Impact | Permanent Exhibit
Species extinction and changes in the ecosystem are natural aspects of the evolution of life on earth. But human activity – resulting in accelerated habitat destruction and modification -- is among the primary causes of today’s biodiversity Challenge.
Designing the exhibit in a space not originally planned for it constituted a creative challenge. In the center of the space, across from the elevators, we placed an interactive map that serves as a visual icon, using overhead projection to depict habitat destruction by humans and its impact on nature. The space consists of walking ramps, with content stations creating a buffer between the two sides of the ramp, enabling two-sided consumption of content. A screening room along the lower side of the ramp shows a short film on the importance of maritime environmental conservation.
